Good Grazing Management will allow farmers to gain a solid understanding of the key principles of grazing management so that they can both design and manage successful grazing systems. The book’s unique approach will present information first from the plant perspectives, and then from the livestock perspective—giving the readers an understanding of both plant and animal needs before setting up the grazing system. The third section of the book will
combine this information with that of detailed design and management. The book will be oriented to ruminant farmers with an emphasis on dairy, beef, and sheep. It will include some of the pasture requirements specific to organic farmers, but will be of use to both non-organic and organic farms.
Other books on grazing are either solid but outdated (Murphy’s Greener Pastures On Your Side of the Fence), more recent but lacking in necessary technical detail (Gerrish’s Management Intensive Grazing and Kick the Hay Habit, Nation’s Quality
Pasture), or are so technical that they are inaccessible to most farmers (Ed Rayburn’s books, for example). Good Grazing Management will fill the gap in the library of grazing books, oriented to farmers and service providers who are looking for
technical information presented in way that is easier to read and understand.
有关放牧话题的其他书籍要么是古板过时的(比如Murphy的《Greener Pastures On Your Side of the Fence》,或者比较现代但缺乏必要的技术细节(比如Gerrish的《Management Intensive Grazing》以及《Kick the Hay Habit, Nation’s Quality Pasture》),或者技术性太高,使得普通牧民无法掌握(比如Ed Rayburn的书)。 (LYR)
